The Opening — Neemrana Looks Like a Movie Set
The film opens at Daikin’s manufacturing facility in Neemrana, Rajasthan. Wide shots of a massive factory floor. Clean lines. Industrial scale. The narrator says:
“A journey of hard work, persistence and forward thinking to achieve something truly world class.”
Good line. Strong visual. You lean in.
This is the Interstellar opening effect — you don’t fully understand what you’re watching yet, but the scale makes you feel something. The 160,000 square meter factory, the sheer size of the operation — it’s visually earned in those first 15 seconds.
What works: The location itself is the hero. Neemrana’s factory floor has a cinematic quality that most manufacturing companies never use properly. Daikin uses it well — at the start.
Then Comes the Timeline. And Everything Slows Down.
At the 47-second mark, the film shifts into what we call “Annual Report Mode.”
2008 — factory started. 2009 — production commenced. 2012 — R32 refrigerant. 2014 — BA products. 2015 — centrifugal chillers. 2016 — R&D center. 2019 — inverter cassettes.
Dates. Numbers. Units. Capacity figures.
It is accurate. It is comprehensive. And it is completely forgettable.
Think about The Social Network. That film is about a tech company being built. But it never once lists a timeline of product launches. Instead, it makes you feel the obsession behind every decision. You understand Facebook’s growth not through statistics — but through the tension on Mark Zuckerberg’s face.
That’s the gap here. Daikin grew from zero to 1.5 million units of production. Insane achievement. But rattling off numbers doesn’t make us feel that — it just informs us of it.
The fix: One worker. One machine. One moment where you see what “one unit every seven seconds” actually looks like on the floor. Show us the speed. Don’t tell us the number.
The R&D Section — The Best Story, Given the Least Time
Here’s the real hidden story in this film: Daikin built India’s first HVAC R&D center. 5,088 square meters of labs, testing facilities, and innovation — all inside a factory in Rajasthan.
That is genuinely remarkable. That deserves its own chapter.
But the film gives it less than 40 seconds.
In research and development facility films, the R&D center is where brand authority is built. The equipment, the engineers, the process of testing a product through multiple phases — that’s what serious B2B buyers actually want to see. Instead, we get a wide shot of a lab and a line about “global standards.” Then we move on.
Missed. Completely missed.
